Practice Tip #1 - Record yourself
• Get used to the sound of your voice
• Our voices differ from how we hear it, to how others actually hear it.
• Look back at your recordings so far, and give yourself some feedback.
Practice Tip #2 - Use tongue twisters
• Good training ground to help you speak better.
• Improves our pronunciation.
• Teaches us presence of mind.
Sample tongue twisters:
Filipino Tongue Twisters
• Kabilugan ng buwan, buwan ng kabilugan.
• Isinayaw nang isinayaw ng mga mananayaw ang sayaw na isinasayaw ng mga mananayaw.
English Tongue Twisters
• I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.
• I have got a date at a quarter to eight; I’ll see you at the gate, so don’t be late.
Practice Tip #3 - Read sample script
Make your script using the following:
Underline - For emphasis
Slash - To when to pause or stop
Circle - For emphasis
Comma - To separate words or to pause
Arrows - Up or Down for Pitch
• Read different kinds of scripts.
• Record yourself while reading a script.
• Upload demo reel on social media platforms.
Voice Acting Techniques (Dubbing Insights)
1. Use facial expressions and gestures
M - Movement
O - Orchestrates
V - Vocal
E - Expressions
2. Lead in lines
3. Human sound effects - You need to use these sound effects to make your voice acting more believable. Makes dubbing sound natural. Also known as "reax" in dubbing.

• Burp
• Sigh

Voice care tip
1. Drink plenty of water - Voice artist should drink at least 16 to 8 glasses of water a day.
Water should be at room temperature.
2. Food and Drinks to avoid
• Drinks with caffeine, sweets and dairy, spicy food, alcoholic drinks, lozenges.
3. Voice rest
4. Proper posture - Voices are strained if our bodies are not relaxed.
5. Proper breathing - Proper breathing fills with our lungs with air to its maximum capacity. When breathing is shallow, our voice doesn't have enough power, and this strains our vocal folds. Abdomen should be expanding, not the shoulders.
6. Don't shout or whisper
7. Warm up - Your vocal folds are also muscles that need to be warmed up before working. 3 sets of warm up: breathing, relaxation and vocalization.
8. Salt water gargle - The salt helps remove mucus in our throat.
9. Avoid pollutants - Avoid exposure to dust, pollen and smoke.
10. Consult a doctor for a persistent cough, sore throat or other similar conditions.

4. Rest and recharge - Go on vacation. Do any activity that allows to breathe, and think. Journal your thoughts, realization and goals.
5. Remind yourself of who you are - Back track on your goals. Trust the process and trust your story. Remember to practice gratitude.
